along the coast, including extensions of the Muizenberg Pavilion (by over a
third), the construction of three tidal pools (one at St. James and two at Kalk
Bay), and the building of the first Kalk Bay Bathing Pavilion. He was a
signatory, as Mayor, to the “Wynberg Scheme” whereby the Municipality
supplied much needed electrical power to Wynberg, and he worked tirelessly
with fellow councillors on the unification of the Municipality with the Greater
Cape Town Municipality. He died on holiday in Cornwall within eight days of
the unification of the Kalk Bay - Muizenberg Municipality with the Greater
Cape Town Municipality, which had been approved on 8 September 1913.
