Permission was granted to her by the Theosophical Publishing House in Adyar, Madras,
India to use some of Wynne’s paintings.

                  The final years: 1941 - 1947

The 1940s were a different type of creative time, that of childbirth and brief motherhood.

But by her 43 birthday, in October 1946, Wynne was seriously ill as a result of the
weakness imprinted into her heart by the illness of her teens. She was attended by Dr. Karl
Sterban but there was little he could do except administer penicillin, the new wonder drug.

However, it was not available in sufficient quantities to be effective.

Eventually, at 5am on a typical wet winter’s morning, 20 May 1947, she died peacefully in

her home. Her ashes were scattered in the Holy Trinity churchyard, Kalk Bay.

She was survived by her husband, Cecil Gasson, whom she had met in 1930 and married in

1935, and by her two infant children.
