                  While  the  protests  succeeded  in  reducing  the  impacts  some  loss  of  beaches  was
                  unavoidable. (Figs. 2.39 – 2.44). On the other hand the straightening of the line freed up

                  pieces of land that have since that time been eyed for road-widening purposes.
