                  and cottage and nine cottages. Of these buildings, the nine cottages (Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,
                  9, and 10) were reported to you by the Medical Officer of Health as premises on which
                  nuisances exist in terms of the Act but as a result of the representations made at the hearing
                  of the owner’s legal representative they were declared not to be slums.

                  Estate N. Menigo (Tinted Orange on plan):
                         This four-roomed cottage in Hare Road was declared a slum.

                  Vercuil and van der Westhuizen (Tinted Blue on plan):
                         The premises  consist  of a single-storey dwelling at  the corner of Hare  Road and
                  Clairvaux Road comprising five rooms and a cobbler’s workshop. The property was not
                  reported as one on which nuisances exist.

                  P. Fernandez (Tinted Yellow on plan):
                         This property was declared a slum and plans have recently been submitted for the
                  erection of a new six-roomed dwelling house to replace the existing structure. Application
                  is made too for the demolition of the existing building in terms of the Housing Act. These
                  plans have not been submitted to the Health and Building Regulations Committee in view
                  of the possibility of your Committee considering the acquisition of the land.

                  False Bay Fishermen’s Union (Tinted Pink on plan):
                         The Trustees of this body own ten cottages in two terraces of five each. Six of the
                  dwellings were reported by the Medical Officer of Health as premises on which nuisances
                  exist and two (Nos. 1 and 10, constructed of wood and iron and attached to brick structures)
                  were eventually declared slums. Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 9 were declared not to be slums.

                  Mr. A. L. Wolfsohn (Tinted Mauve on plan):
                         On this property have been erected fourteen wood and iron cottages, a double-storey
                  building abutting Harbour Road  comprising shop and ten dwelling  rooms,  and a single-
                  storey  building  at  the  rear  of  the  property  known  as  No.  15.  This  latter  building  was
                  declared a slum.

                  Mrs. A. M. Wolfsohn (Tinted Sienna on plan):
                         Two  buildings  “Die  Rust”  and  No.  16  have  been  erected  on  this  land,  the  latter
                  being declared a slum.

                  Malay Cemetery (Tinted Grey on plan):
                         At the top of Barton Road, this small area is registered in the name of Abdol Joseph.
                  It was acquired for the purpose of a Malay Cemetery and is not valued.

                  Land Coloured Dark Green on plan:
                         This  land  is  registered  in  the  name  of  George  Smithers  and  has  not  changed
                  ownership since 1850. The property is not valued and appears in the Derelict Lands list.
