Probable Cost of Acquisition
The total municipal valuation of all the properties in the entire area amounts to
£12,580. I would point out, however, that five of the buildings are worthy of preservation
and represent a value of £4,270. These properties may be excluded from the area and
retained by their present owners or acquired by the Council for ultimate disposal. They are
included in the area in this instance by reason of an expression by some of the owners that
if portions of their properties were to be acquired they desire to dispose of the whole of
their holdings. The bulk of the area then remaining and covered with the cottages that
would be demolished would be represented by a valuation of £8,310, which figure I am of
opinion would be more than realised in the disposal of the land cut up into plots of suitable
shape and dimensions and the re-housing could be carried out on land of little more than
half this value.
