PC). A mixed community in rental and owned homes; in 1942 all homes condemned under the
Slums Act of 1936 (as in Kalk Bay) and demolished and residents housed in blocks of flats (as
in KB 1940 – 45). From 1967 onwards under the Group Areas Act they were evicted and re-
settled mostly in Ocean View, and also with families in Steenberg and Retreat.
