Kalk Bay Primary School - c.1907 the Kalk Bay Police
Station in February 1897, the rst Kalk Bay
Primary School (four classrooms) in 1898 and the Marine Research
Station, St. James, in 1899. Here the work was completed by Greaves’
successor Adolph Howard. This station had to meet the requirements of
Professor Gilchrist, the Marine Biologist. Greaves retired in 1900, aged
fty-six, due to ill-health, prior to the completion of the Marine Research
Station. He died shortly after arriving back home in Scotland in 1901.
