Dalebrook House
Jones’ other work in St. James consisted of alterations and additions
including a garage for Dr. C.P. Smuts at Stonehenge, 36 Main Road, in
1911, and the design of a home for Mrs. M. Barnett 20 Sandhurst Road,
now known as Barnwood.
His most prominent work in Kalk Bay was in 1901 with the design of an
attractive balcony that ran the full length of the front of Dalebrook House.
This popular balcony added a stylish nish to the boarding house until it
was burned down in January 1918.
Jones died on 11 June 1953, aged seventy-eight, at 10 Southway,
Pinelands. His wife Emma had predeceased him. He was survived by a son
and two daughters.
