                  Robert Cubitt Frost, who was always known as Robin, was born in Gardens, Cape Town

                  and  educated  at  Bishops  1932  -  40.  On  leaving  school  he joined  the  Standard  Bank  in
                  Simon’s  Town  and  in  1942  volunteered  for  the  SA  Army,  joining  the  Special  Services

                  Battalion. After training and service in the Union he went to Italy in 1944 with the SA 6
                  Division as part of the Allied liberation forces.


                  During the second half of 1944 he participated in an action that was reported in the Cape
                  Times:
